A lot of people find themselves in a dilemma when it comes to formatting the content on their resumes. Is it better to list your education first or your professional experience? Like most answers, the answer to this question depends entirely on you.
People who list education first on their resumes typically have little to no work experience or are recent graduates, and this is usually the proper way to formulate your resume. Education will never hurt you on a resume, so if you're applying for a job and have little to no work experience, it's probably best that you include your education first. You can further boost your resume by including any educational awards you've received and you can also list courses you've completed that are relevant to the job you're applying for.

Cover Letter Tips for Teachers
The cover letter is arguably the most important part of the job application packet. It is also the one that tends to get far too little attention. You have to remember that the cover letter is meant to be the tool that sells you. It is what is going to make the employer interested enough to give you that interview. How you write your cover letter affects the likelihood of that interview in a big way.
All cover letters follow the same general format: personal contact information, company address, date, greeting, introduction, body, and closing. Letters for teachers need to include a few special things within the given format. Here are a few tips for making a strong cover letter
A common mistake that teachers make is that they only list their experiences, accomplishments, credentials, and licenses in the cover letter. Commonly, we will see a sentence something like this: "I have been teaching 6th grade for the last nine years. During those years I have been recognized as innovative and twice won the most improved classroom award."
The problem with a passage like that is that it rehashes the resume or curriculum vita. Those items should already be on the resume. Restating them in the cover letter wastes precious space and squanders opportunity. Instead of rephrasing the resume, you need to show the prospective employer why these particular skills are the answer to their problems.
You need to do a little research and find out what the school district is interested in. Do they have problems with low graduation rates? Are the standardized test scores below average? One of the biggest traps that teaches fall into when writing an education cover letter is to be so interested in showing of their own education that the cover letter ends up being dull and hard to read. While your level of education is certainly important, being able to capture the attention of the person reviewing your cover letter is even more important. The guidelines for writing any other kind of cover letter are equally true when writing an education cover letter.
It is important to remember that how you word the things in your cover letter are just as important as information it has in it. A rule of thumb is to write like you speak. Read your letter to someone who knows you, and ask them if it sounds like you. You may be the most qualified teacher that has applied for the job, but if no one reads what you've written your qualifications won't do you any good. Give a specific date when you will follow up, then remember to call on that date.

Run the checkers, then re-read your cover letter aloud to find any mistakes the software might have missed.
